1. Who we are

Trade Handy Australia (ABN 95 683 837 519) ("we", "us") respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Contact: contact@tradehandy.com · 0409 111 716.

2. Information we collect

Identity & contact: name, phone, email, suburb/postcode, address.
Trade & business details: trade/skills, ABN, business name, GST status, licences, tickets, white card, insurances and their expiry, vehicle/equipment, experience.
Location data: approximate or precise device location (with your permission) to match you with nearby suppliers, materials and trades.
Job & transaction data: job details, quotes, messages, ratings and reviews, and records of work.
Payment data: processed by our third‑party payment provider (e.g. Stripe). We do not store full card numbers.
AI inputs: the lists, measurements and queries you submit to the AI tools.
Technical & security data: device/usage information, and IP address and time of sign‑up, captured to help secure the Platform and prevent fraud.

3. How we collect it

We collect information directly from you (forms, registration, your dashboard), automatically as you use the Platform, and from third parties such as our payment provider or verification sources where relevant.

4. Why we use it

To provide the Platform — matching, quoting, job management, payments and the tools.
To verify trades and maintain trust and safety, including internal conduct‑based records.
To process payments, subscriptions and fees.
To communicate with you about jobs, your account and (with consent) updates.
To improve the Platform and, where you opt in, to provide AI‑assisted features.
To comply with our legal obligations and to prevent or investigate fraud or misuse.

5. Who we disclose it to

Other members, on a limited basis, to enable a job (e.g. a matched trade receives the job and contact details once assigned). For Trades Pooling, clients see only released ratings/comments — not full business details.
Service providers — our payment processor, hosting and database provider, and (per your chosen AI mode) a major AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI or Google).
Suppliers/Educators where you choose to engage them.
Authorities — only where required or authorised by law, or in response to a lawful request.

6. AI processing & your choice

You can choose to use your own AI provider key, or use Trade Handy's AI service. When AI features are used, the relevant inputs are sent to the chosen provider to generate a result. API keys are transmitted securely and stored in an encrypted secret store; they are not exposed in the website and AI calls are made server‑side. You can change your AI setting or revoke a key at any time.

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information using encryption in transit, access controls, an encrypted vault for secrets/keys, and audit logging. No system is completely secure; please keep your credentials safe and notify us of any suspected misuse.

8. Storage & overseas disclosure

Our primary database is hosted in Australia (Supabase, Sydney region). Some service providers and AI providers may store or process data overseas (including the United States). Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate protections consistent with the APPs.

9. Access & correction

You may request access to, or correction of, your personal information by contacting us. You can also update most details in your dashboard. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity.

10. Cookies & analytics

The Platform may use cookies and similar technologies, and basic analytics, to operate and improve the service. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

11. Direct marketing

We only send marketing communications where permitted, and every message includes an unsubscribe option, consistent with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). You can opt out at any time.

12. Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, then take reasonable steps to destroy or de‑identify it.

13. Complaints

If you have a privacy concern, contact us first at contact@tradehandy.com and we will investigate. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

14. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on the Platform.
